Amaliapolis is a pretty seaside village 50km south of the lively university city of Volos and mid-way between Athens and Thessaloniki, making it an ideal base for touring the mainland and visiting Delphi, Meteora, Dion and other archaeological sites. The Pelion peninsula is also extremely scenic and well worth a visit.
The western side of the Pagasitic Gulf and Magnesia in general are largely undiscovered by foreign tourists but popular with Greeks. As well as the village beach itself there are several nice sandy beaches within 30 mins driving distance of the village and also archaeological sites and scenic mountain villages.
It is only 23km from Volos Airport which is increasingly being used by Ryanair and Air Berlin so why not try Amaliapolis for your next short break or a longer vacation flying in to Nea Anchialos Volos airport.
